Registered massage therapists are primary health care providers in Ontario, which means they can be seen as a first point of contact, and are qualified to assess and treat, as well as refer out, as needed.
RMTs are regulated health care professionals, which means that they are bound by the regulated health professions act, and accountable for the standard of care provided.
RMTs in Ontario must be members in good standing of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
Choosing a Registered Massage Therapist means you can trust that you're putting your care in qualified, capable hands.

Yes! Because massage therapists are primary health care providers, we are qualified to assess you and determine safety and appropriateness of treatment. If you have any concerns, contact us prior to your session and we can discuss your individual situation.
*Remember - pain does not always equal injury.* We can talk about this more when you come in, if you have questions about it.
Sometimes, a gentle soothing treatment with an RMT is just what is needed to begin the path to recovery!
Prior to treatment, you will fill out a form which includes important information about your health and your reason for seeking treatment.
When you come in for your first visit, your therapist will sit down with you to discuss your health history and goals for treatment.
Your first visit will include an assessment, treatment, remedial exercise recommendations, and recommendations for follow up care.
There's no need to wait!
Your RMT is happy to work with your other care providers to give you the best care possible.
Not at all! In fact, many treatment approaches are easier with the patient fully clothed. We suggest you wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing with you to change into for your appointment (ex. sweatpants, pajamas, etc.)
Traditional Swedish massage, using lotion and sheets, is sometimes done with the patient undressed while under the linens, but even for Swedish, the level of undress is completely up to the patient.
It doesn't have to!
Patients regularly achieve great outcomes without the need for painful work. There may be some mild discomfort, but we use this as a guide, not a goal, in treatment.
Patients should expect to be reasonably comfortable at all times.
I look forward to working with you!
